Chiang Mai Design Week 2025, 6 –14 DEC

About

Chiang Mai Design Week is a vibrant annual festival that brings together local creatives—designers, artisans, artists, and entrepreneurs—to present their innovative projects, enriching lives with cutting-edge ideas. This celebration of local creativity develops collaboration within Chiang Mai while also forging new business connections on a global scale.

As per tradition, this annual festival aims to create dynamic platforms for sharing and exchanging knowledge and experiences in design. It welcomes communities, tourists, youth, and all design enthusiasts. These engaging platforms comprise exhibitions, design landmarks, seminars, workshops, art showcases, and music performances. Not only do they create memorable moments, but they also empower the local community with the transformative potential of design, enriching people’s lives. Moreover, the festival promises to infuse the neighbourhoods with vibrancy and boundless creativity. This year, the events will take place in the captivating settings of the Chiang Mai Old Town, Tha Pae Gate – Chang Moi areas, and TCDC Chiang Mai. The events proudly invite everyone to revisit Chiang Mai with different views and closely experience several fantastic ideas of the locals.

Moreover, the festival ignites a passion for local, sustainable living and environmentally friendly practices. This noble goal is achieved through a series of captivating food culture programs deeply rooted in the agricultural heritage that embodies the essence of local wisdom, arts, and crafts. It is one of the driving forces behind Chiang Mai’s thriving economy. The festival also encourages the homecoming idea for the young generation to bring back their experiences and fresh ideas to enrich their hometowns. By leveraging their local assets and deepening their identities and roots, these inspired individuals will embark on new opportunities leading to a world of boundless possibilities. Through a series of experimental and challenging platforms, they will push the boundaries of creativity, creating an excellent ecosystem for enthusiasts, designers, and entrepreneurs in the creative industry of the city.

These extraordinary events aim to foster a thriving community for creative minds, propelling Chiang Mai toward becoming the Creative City. The city’s unique art, culture, and exceptional skills of its artisans will form the bedrock of this creative transformation, promising a brighter and more imaginative future for all.

Unleash Creativity, Empower Communities

As the world spins faster—shifting economies, disrupted societies, and an unpredictable environment—how do we face it all, if not through collaboration?

Chiang Mai Design Week is where creative minds come together. We believe that new doors swing wide open when local communities team up with networks, both near and far. Together, we can navigate change and drive our communities and cities toward meaningful, creative growth.

Entering a new decade of Thailand’s first design festival, Chiang Mai Design Week returns with the concept LOCAL PLUS—aiming to elevate Chiang Mai and the northern region as a positive-thinking space for fresh ideas, innovation, people, joy, and seeds of creativity. Here, design is more than just beauty and function—it’s a real, tangible force that drives both the economy and society forward.

LOCAL PLUS isn’t just about positive thinking—it’s a symbol of limitless potential, expressed through mathematical signs that point toward infinite outcomes:

  • Multiply (×): Amplifying creative energy exponentially. This year, Chiang Mai expands its showcases across a network of creative cities in the North, connecting local talents with international platforms.

  • Divide (÷): Sharing innovation and knowledge. The festival serves as a space for open exchange, —turning grassroots collaboration into a mechanism for national economic and social uplift.

  • Minus (−): Removing barriers through cooperation. By cutting redundancy, reducing waste, and minimizing environmental impact, we create room for progress that’s smarter and more sustainable.

Join us in exploring the positive energy of the North, leading to ENDLESS (∞) positive impacts, at the 11th Chiang Mai Design Week 2025, from December 6–14, 2025, in Chiang Mai.
