Chiang Mai HO!

Chiang Mai HO Zix!

Chiang Mai has long been recognized—both nationally and internationally—as a hub for highly skilled, diverse musical talent. Our city boasts an impressive range of live music venues that entertain and delight visitors. Beyond the polished cover bands that often tour Chiang Mai, the city is also home to many original artists. Unfortunately, opportunities for showcasing original music remain limited, frequently driving these creators to relocate to Bangkok. This is where “Chiang Mai Hoh” comes in. In the local northern dialect, “Hoh” means “blend” or “diversify.” The Chiang Mai Hoh initiative was born to create more space and opportunity for original musicians in this city — welcoming artists of all genres—Pop, Blues, Jazz, Lanna folk, and more. To date, Chiang Mai Hoh has hosted five successful editions, showcasing over 100 original artists. Many local acts have gone on to gain broader recognition after participating. As we embark on our 6th edition, we’re weaving in a new dimension: engaging the next generation. We’re inviting high school and university students to present their own original pieces—and exploring collaborations that blend traditional Lanna music with contemporary styles to create fresh, unique sounds for Chiang Mai.  Our vision? To empower these young artists to build sustainable creative futures in their hometown—and to enrich the city’s cultural identity with authentic, original voices. 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐢 𝐇𝐎 𝐙𝐢𝐱 — the biggest original music festival in Chiang Mai, featuring the most local artists across every style imaginable: Luk Thung, Pop, Alternative Rock, Dream Pop, Rock & Roll, Blues, Northern Folk, Fusion Jazz, all the way to pure Instrumental sounds.
